Trade with Arpsmith
Trades are really starting to heat up for me, another arrival today this time from ARPSmith's Sportscard Obsession. This trade turned a Tim Linceum Gypsy Queen Relic into a Larry Walker Bat card. I prefer bat cards to jersey cards and turning a Giant into a Rockie is a good deal for me. Also coming my was was a pile of 1992 Pinnacle needs for some Giants. I will avoid a pile of scans in fear of turning this into a full time 1992 Pinnacle blog, just another Thanks for the Trade post.

Contest Pimpage
Baseball Cards, Sports and Life is having a contest to gain some followers, go there a follow, looks quality, full support.
Trade with Bob
Another completed trade, this time with Bob. Going his way were some 1995 Collector's Choice SE singles, coming back were some random needs from my Zistle wantlist. Some Rockies from when I starting following the team in Jason Bates, David Nied and Darren Holmes, some 1992 Pinnacle and a couple 1987 O-Pee-Chee, a set I am going to try a little harder to complete at some point. Also a couple catchers including some awesome Conlon cards I needed and a Chris Kelley Score with the Stanley Cup Champs logo.

Trade with The Dimwit
This was a straight Gypsy Queen for Gypsy Queen trade with The Daily Dimwit, an bunch of mini's his way, and coming back was the rest of the base singles to complete my set and a pile of SP photo variations, a Juan Nicasio mini for the Rockies collection as well as the only sliding stars I needed, the Elvis Andrus. I won't overload you with GQ scans, I just wanted to thank Dimwit for the trade and to mark my first set completion since starting this blog. I still need a few mini's and assorted other cards if anyone is interesting in a trade my updated list is here.

Pinnacle Apprecation: 1992
Topps is in their second year of baseball monopoly, and while I am not hating on Topps I do miss the other products, looking back the one I miss the most is Pinnacle. 1992 was the first year of Pinnacle baseball after producing football and hockey sets in 1991, with both sets sharing the same design. 1992 added baseball and shared the same design with hockey and football. 1992 Pinnacle remains in my top 5 set designs of all time. It was Score's higher end product but still suffers from overproduction with the most valuable base card being the Manny Ramirez rookie which books around $4.00. I love the black borders and the nice simple design with the team color gradient adding some color, but nothing garish. The lack of team logos might turn some people off but I would rather them left off than have then intrude on the design. The photo selection is decent and appealing to me is a lot of the catchers are featured with there gear on, which I love.

The Catch, In Color!
This has been making the rounds on the interwebs, but it it worthy to put here as every baseball should see it. Someone colorized Willie Mays' famous catch from the 1954 World Series at the Polo Grounds. Definitely one of the coolest things I have ever seen.

Trade w/ Ryan's Pitch
The best part of blogging here, trades. Package from Ryan's Pitch arrived today with some good stuff, just scanned a few highlights. The traded focused on some of his needs for '91 Fleer, and I got one I needed in return. I saw Berryhill catch for the Giants in my first Coors Field pilgrimage in 1997, he hit a 2 run home run in a Rockies loss, and this is a sweet catcher in action card. Among other good stuff a Thomas Field floating head I needed for the one of every Rockies collection. A couple 2011 GQ including an awesome Green Framed Tulo and a Ubaldo mini. And my first Iannetta with the Angels. Great trade, thanks.

Card ID Help: 1994 Donruss Carlos Delgado
This was in a pile of catcher cards from my younger collecting days, no idea where it came from, it's the same as the 1994 Donruss base, just with "Special Print 1 of 5000" across the top, still card number 568. Could be a Canadian regional/promo thing as I never bought a pack of 1994 Donruss in my life. It's a cool card of Delgado before he was moved out from behind the plate. If anyone knows please let me know, I asked on the Beckett boards but never found any answers. Back scan after the jump.

2012 Bowman Early Thoughts
2012 Bowman is out, this is not a set I will be actively collect, but I will chip away at a few singles. I really like the base design other than the player name being foil, squashed and hard to read (who thought making cards of guys you never heard off with hard to read names was a good idea?), the logo placement is good and doesn't look like it will interfere with the photos. Another Topps set that suffers from parallel overload, Blue, Gold, Orange, Red, Silver Ice, Silver Ice Red and International. Do we really need 7 parallels of the base card? That being said the International parallel are a huge step up with the flag instead of the old design with the map. The Prospect are even worse, not counting printing plates (which there are 8 for each prospect) there are 16 different versions of every prospect according to Beckett. Seriously, SIXTEEN!!! I do like that the autographs are not super limited and affordable for collectors, I picked up a Wilin Rosario auto for 3 bucks, but again, we have 7 parallels of the auto cards.

2012 Gypsy Queen Box Break 2 Results
Box 2 has been cracked and I will not break it down as much because I mixed the minis up. The hits improved on the box big time, Carlos Gonzalez was on the top of my "guys I need auto's of" list that that pull was nice, I don't collect Lincecum but probably would if he wasn't a Giant, I despise Upton, and the Heisey is a lame pull, but a fun box overall. The real highlight of this box was no one double, in the whole box, there was not two of the same card, awesome.
Over two boxes I am only missing 18 cards from the base set with 77 doubles. I really like this set, scans don't do the cards justice.

They Are Finally Here!!!
2 Boxes of Gypsy Queen, I had these pre-ordered but the problems with living in the middle of no where is that you have to wait for think to come in the post. My nest couple days are set with sorting this out, I will post the boxes separately to show off the spoils.
