Winnings from a recent contest at everyone's favorite Dutch Card Blogger, arrived, with an Inception Auto Relic of prospect Slade Heathcott, I love the Inception line and even though I don't collect Yankees this card is a welcome addition. Some random Rockies also came along for the ride.
Baseball card blog focusing on 1971 Topps, cards of catchers and the Colorado Rockies, sometimes drifting of into other areas or sports.

A visit from my Dad
My Dad was the one who starting me collecting, and while he doesn't do much card related anymore, he still buys a few packs just to check out the new products, and try to pull some Goalies for his PC. This weekend he stopped in with what he ripped and left them with me, mostly hockey with some 2014 Topps baseball. The tallest stack is all 2013-14 Upper Deck, over half the series one set, not including the SPs, so I will be building that set, want/tradelist to come tomorrow, and the rest will be up for trade, so if you need any 2013-14 Score, OPC or Upper Deck maybe we can work something out.

A Waiting 'Til Next Year Trade
A really nice trade package from Waiting 'Til Next Year. I sent some early 1990's Donruss set needs his way, and in return received one of the best trade packages I have ever opened. I had no idea what to expect in return, but Tom obviously spend some time in my Zistle wantlist and unleashed a bubble mailer full of goodness. Trust me, I was much more exited than Mr. Hayes to the right. I feel kind of bad getting this for some crappy Donruss, so a return extra thank you package might be in order.

First Trip to LCS of 2014
I couldn't just stop at the LCS for the supplies I needed, I had to pick up some wax in the way of the last Jumbo pack of 2014 Topps there. I won't flood you with 2014 cards you have already seen, but will show off a few. Yadier Molina was the first card from the pack, a catcher with a goalie style mask, so a score for the PC. Rex Brothers was the first Rockies pull of 2014. My inserts started with Ryan Braun, an ugly card of a player I dislike, off to a rough start. I love the Furture is Now inserts, but the checklist is stupid, every player has multiple cards, how about spreading it around some, and no Nolan Arenado, Booo.

Ranford Jersey Relic Mailday
I don't usually buy relic cards, or spend much on the hockey side of things, but once in a while something catches my eyes that I can't pass up. That was the case with this Bill Ranford relic. Ppictured with the Bruins and showing a nice two colour peice of jersey from 2013-14 Upper Deck. A personal favorite of mine despite crushing my childhood dreams of watching Ray Bourque and Cam Neely hoisting the Cup, even to this day I still call making a big glove save, pulling a Ranford.
Ranford is probably best know for beating the Bruins in the 1990 Stanley Cup finals and winning the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP. He actually started his career in Boston as a 3rd round pick in 1985 and played in 44 games in the Black and Gold from 1985-1987 (his rookie card is with the Bruins) before being traded to the Oilers with Geoff Courtnall and a draft pick for Andy Moog. Ranford returned to Boston in 1996 for Mariusz Czerkawski, Sean Brown and a draft pick, lasting 77 games before going to Washington with Adam Oates and Rick Tocchet for Jim Carey, Anson Carter, Jason Allison and a pick. Three pretty major trades in recent Bruins history.

Tony Cingrani Topps Redemption Mailday
A successful Topps Redemption post, I have heard many horror stories about the Topps redemption program, so I was pretty disapointed to pull one from a box of Chrome this summer. After contemplating selling the redemption, I decided to redeem it and last week it arrived. I don't remember when I actually entered the code, but it did take a few months and there were a few Cingranis in the wild for a while before I got mine, but overall it was a pretty painless process. I now have 1 remaining in my personal account and have had 2 out 5 redemptions in my COMC go live, that will be shown off later. These Chrome cards never scan well for me, but this is the refractor numbered to 499, nice on card auto, and while I am not usually a fan of spring training photos, it is cool to see the alternate spring training cap on a card.

Acetate Appreciation: 2014 Topps Clear
We have all seen pretty much everything 2014 Topps has to offer by now, but something that I haven't seen a lot on is what I have found the most exciting, the clear parallels. These have been selling very well on secondary markets so I have not acquired one yet, but judging from the scans I have seen these are pretty sweet. Paralleling the full 330 card base set, and numbered to ten, with all the parallel overload in the last couple years, this is one that I really support. Hopefully the success of these cards leads Topps to embrace the clear plastic cards and include them in future products.

Buckstore Trade with more R's than a Pirate Ship.
Catching up on a trade post with Sportscard From The Dollars Store bringing in the 3 R's, Redskins, Rockies and Roughriders.. His side of the trade already posted here. After pulling a decent Senators card I was hoping it was needed at Buckstorecards, and it was. In return I got a black border Reid Brignac, not only is it a lovely black border parallel, but it catches me up on my Rockies frankenset.

Custom Card: 2013 Magic Jon Ryan
Congratulations to Jon Ryan, the first Saskatchewan native to be a part of a Super Bowl Championship team. Ryan played his college ball in his hometown of Regina as a Receiver/Punter/Kicker, where he still holds the record for longest touchdown reception at 109 yards. After spending two seasons in the CFL, and being named a CFL All-Star in 2005, Ryan signed with the Packers in 2006 and in 2008 went to the Seahawks. Despite playing in 127 career NFL games, he still does not have a football card in a NFL set. It was pretty lucky to find such a good photo of a punter, mixed with a retro style design in Topps Magic, this is easily one of my favorite customs.
