Maybe I have too much time on my hands, maybe I am just drawn to weirdness. Juan Rincon never did get a Rockies card for his 28 games with Colorado across the 2009 and 2010 seasons, other than this Venezuelan card that I know nothing about other than it was on eBay, and I bought it. The listing has it as a 2018 card, but I am sure I saw one before this year. The back has no stats or year so I really have no idea how to catalog this. It does look and feel like a card card, although I am not sure if the position "P" is supposed to be "distressed" looking or just a print error.
Here is the back, no idea what set this is, but there are at least 146 cards. as weird as this card is, it is not the first Venezuelan order I have made, I picked up the two below some years ago and never showed them off, these are stickers and are a little smaller that a regular card, no real identifier other than the ACV2 logo, just a couple more weird things for the "One of Every Rockies" collection.
I see Venezuelan cards all the time in my searches but I don’t know how legit they are. And sellers have them listed pretty high, so I never bite. They’re cool-looking cards but who actually issues them?!
ReplyDeleteQuality-wise the Rincon feels like a real card, the other two are stickers, kind of like the old late 80's early 90's Panini stuff.
ReplyDeleteIt's okay. I collect pieces of cardboard with pictures of guys on them. Some of my closest friends think that's totally weird.
ReplyDeleteI've always been tempted to pull the trigger on of these Venezuelan issues. Like Rincon, there are several short-term Cubs who only appear in Chicago uniforms on one of these oddballs. While the origin might be unknown, if the quality is there, I might just finally take the plunge!
