Recent Hockey Pick-ups

I don't buy a ton of hockey anymore, but playoff fever struck and I bit on a few things from different places. They are all thrown together in favor of three smaller posts. The first from the Bay. High on the list of my hockey interests are Pelle Lindbergh and acetate, so when this card came out in the new Upper Deck Ice offering, I watched around and found one cheap from a Canadian seller meaning low shipping and the card came direct to me instead of through a mail forwarding service, so win-win. It didn't scan well (old scanner), but the clear section has a little holographic thing, very cool card.

Combined Shipping Mailday

Bored browsing online leads to weird places, the above Metal Red Pelle Lindbergh caught my eye, as it should, it is an awesome looking card. I noticed it was a Canadian seller, so the "sellers other items" search began.

30 Year old Socks

My Pelle Lindbergh collection is coming along nicely, with the latest addition being my second relic card feature hockey socks. It is labeled as jersey, but as a good hockey playing Canadian, I am pretty sure those are socks. In fact I was playing hockey when I won the auction for this card, set the bid in the dressing room and it ending while I was on the ice.

This is from 2014-15 Masterpieces, a set I really like and have a couple really nice cards from. Upper Deck has only done this set in 2009 and 2015, hopefully we see a release a little sooner than a six year gap.

Budget Blown, Pelle Lindbergh PSA edition.

I go back and forth on grading, sometimes I think it's dumb and a waste of money, sometimes I drop over $100 on a slabbed card. This is second of the two. I think this is a new record holder for the most I have spent on a single card. As my collection fills out I am starting to value quality over quantity. This is about a quality as it gets.

A couple things sold me on this card, I have always wanted a PSA 10, it's in the new PSA case with the hologram, and Pelle Lindbergh, sadly, doesn't have many cards so it doesn't take long to build up a nice collection. I already had a decent copy from my collection as a kid, but this is a huge upgrade, and I haven't felt the buyers remorse yet (I actually got a really good deal to be honest) so that's a bonus.

May 2016 Pick-ups Feat. Trippy Parallels.

I have to admit, I am still not a fan of the logo-less Panini stuff, but when they put out something like the above Tie-dyed parallel, they deserve to get some credit. I don't know if Prizm will return for 2016, but if it does, I hope these show up again.

Black Friday Hockey

Not all Friday Black pick-ups, but all part of a COMC shipment that contained my Black Friday cards. Starting off with the most exciting card in the package. A dual sock relic of Pelle Lindbergh. This is not near as gross as it sounds as these are from the hockey socks (which are more of leggings really), and not actually worn on the feet. Lindbergh is a pretty tragic story, an All-Star and Vezina Trophy winner who died in a car accident at the age of 26. It does make you wonder where Upper Deck got hockey socks from a guy who last played in 1985. The only bad part about this card is that the sock portion really bulges out of the card, there is no real creasing, but it creates a really weird 3D kind of effect.
