Hey, I'm Still here.. And I bought some stuff

Contrary to the lack of action here, I do still collect cards (and not just post digital customs). I haven't opened any wax in a loong time, but here are a few pick-ups worth posting. Starting with a card I didn't know existed until recently, Wade Redden played in over 1,000 career NHL games, his final 6 being with the Bruins, along with 5 playoff games. Panini must have had some extra cloth to use up, so here is his only card with Boston. Being 10 years old and limited to 25, I never expected to find one, but when one popped up with an $8.00 BIN, I couldn't click fast enough. So here it is, from Sweden of all places, now in my Bruins PC.

Cleaning out the Hockey Heavy Scan Folder

A combination of trades and parts of a few Sportlots orders that got scanned and never posted, until now. Starting off with a couple Bruins goalies, Jeff Hackett still in his Montreal gear, then with Bruins stuff and Peter Skudra on his only Bruins card.

Recent Hockey Pick-ups

I don't buy a ton of hockey anymore, but playoff fever struck and I bit on a few things from different places. They are all thrown together in favor of three smaller posts. The first from the Bay. High on the list of my hockey interests are Pelle Lindbergh and acetate, so when this card came out in the new Upper Deck Ice offering, I watched around and found one cheap from a Canadian seller meaning low shipping and the card came direct to me instead of through a mail forwarding service, so win-win. It didn't scan well (old scanner), but the clear section has a little holographic thing, very cool card.

A Sportlots Order Mash-up

A combination of Sportlots.com withdrawal and a little worry about 2018 postage increases led to finally sorting out the mass of cards in my cart and pull the trigger on a couple orders, presented here not by order, but mixed up by theme to a point. During my current Rockies re-organize and entry to tcdb (R.I.P. zislte) I realized all my Denny Neagle cards were boring, this is no longer the case. I have very few 2002 Upper Deck, but now I have the important one.

Trading with Crazy Joe

A blogger/Tradingcarddb trade with CrazieJoe's Card Corner, starting with a card that I can't believe I didn't have between the 1991 Upper Deck I opened as a kid and the trade over the past years of Earnest Byner. Really cool card, doesn't scan well though.

Goalies From Sportlots

Scratching a small hockey itch with a package from Sportlots, two throwback style cards using the beautiful 1954-55 Topps design, adding to my growing Irbe collection. The Whitmore was the card the started the order, somehow he got a card after spending 5 mostly forgettable games with the Bruins in 2000.

Zistle Hockey Trade

There is starting to be a little more hockey finding it's way into my collection. The most recent Zistle trade was all hockey both ways. Most of my hockey cards are still at my parents house, probably including a couple copies of the card above. The Sharks were always my second team, after coming home from playing games over the winter, I could usually catch the end of the late west coast games, and I got a soft spot for the teal jerseys and the weird Latvian goalie with the equipment that looked like second hand store rejects.

Recent Hockey Pickups (June 2014)

Time to clean out the scanned folder and post some recent hockey acquisitions, starting off with some Irbes. First a really cool minor league card, I bought a ton of this set as a kid, but never pulled an Irbe. In the middle is a nice on-card auto I picked up for less than $4.00 and a Metal Universe from 2012 Fleer Retro. I really love the weirdness of the '90's metal sets.

A Zistle Hockey Trade

 More set help for my 2013-14 Upper Deck Hockey coming from Zistle. How can we not start with Saint Patrice. It's kind of funny how the face of franchise is from Quebec, home of the hated Habs.

Small Sportlots Mailday

I have a love/hate relationship with Sportlots, I love the huge amount of random commons usually listed at 18 cents a piece. I hate trying to find multiple cards from the same seller to fill out an order. The above Arturs Irbe led to a search that lasted over an hour and netted me a total of four cards. I am trying to keep my hockey card budget very small, but when I saw Irbe skating out of the giant sharks mouth with his second hand store looking goalie equipment, I knew it was a card I wanted to add.
