Note to self: Group Breaks are a huge waste of money and I am dumb for buying into them.

The title pretty much sums it up. Nothing against breakers, if you can make a job out of opening cards and take all time to sort, package and ship, great, I admire that, but as a buyer it is a huge gamble, and huge gambles usually turn out to be a huge waste. Every break I have entered has been this way and this was no exception. This time the allure of 2019 Upper Deck Artifacts was too strong, tempted by a checklist with Pastrnak autos (which I don't think even exist), Aurums in Red & Gold as well as the usual Bruins big hits in Saint Robert and Saint Patrice. No such luck. A 10 box case produced 4 Bruins cards with the above probably being the best, a non-numbered, regular relic of Tuukka Rask. Even though the card says "Lord Stanley's Legacy Relics" there is no mention of this being using in the Cup final (it probably wasn't), and if it was, it was one in which the Bruins lost, so, yay.

Group Break Result: 2016-17 Select Basketball

After not getting a hit in my last break, I got a $5 credit towards my next one. So with the credit burning a hole in my virtual wallet, I jumped in on a very cheap 6 box break of 2016 Select with Sacramento. There are lots of Kings cards with the three rookies and on-card autos, so why not?

Group Break Results: 2017 Unparalleled

I don't do group breaks very often, mostly because they are never with the gamble. Sometimes I forget this though and enter a group break just to remind myself how much they are not worth it. Here is my latest reminder in the form of 2017 Panini Unparalleled. I bough the Redskins in an 8 box half-case break, here is what I got.

2014 Bowman Platinum Group Break Results

In deciding not to spend over $100 on a box on 2014 Bowman Platinum, I decided to try and jump in on a few box breaks to pick up some Rockies. I have done two previous box breaks, 2012 Archives and 2012 Heritage, both went poorly for me, but that was largely because I joined before I realized how poor the Rockies checklists for these sets were.

I was hoping this one would be different, but it was not. 6 boxes of Bowman Platinum yielded me very little. I did watch the break, and the breaker ran a good honest break. It was just the packs that were against me. I did get the base team set, but that is only the two cards to the right.

2012 Heritage Group Break Results

I recently joined in my first group break, 4 boxes of 2012 Heritage with 2 packs of 2012 Topps Tribute thrown in as a bonus. I picked the Rockies without realizing that there were no Rockies in the Chrome parallels. The highlight is the Tulo image swap, but other than that I got my ass kicked, ending up with one floating head Chrome (HP100), a Tulowitzki regular short print and a Carlos Gonzalez SP along with the base set and 3 floating head cards. The Rockies were shut out on the Tribute packs. Fairly disappointing results considering the Rockies are heavily featured in the short prints, maybe its karma for making fun of Heritage when it came out.
