Binder 9

I have seen a lot people around doing this, so I took some time to go through my collection and see what I could come up with for my top 9 cards, I started limited to baseball, but there was a few that I really didn't want to leave off, so it became multi-sport.

More Weird Catcher Relic Pick-ups

While not usually a fan of relics, Tools of the Trade did some things that are just to awesome it ingore. The above John Buck with pieces of shin guard, glove, chest protector and steel bars from a mask is one of those cards that there was no way I was going to pass up.

The Ivan Rodriguez switches out the shin guard for a piece of jersey but is the first mask card I have seen with hollow bars, and is the first from a traditional catcher's mask and not the goalie style that Buck wears.

These join the Johnny Estrada I picked up last year and as far as I can tell I am only missing a Paul Lo Duca mask card to have one of each from the Tools of the Trade sets.

Quite Possibly the Best Catcher Mem Card Ever

Playoff's Absolute Memorabilia product was responsible for some of the best Mem cards I have seen, featuring relic cards of Hall of Famers and weird stuff you don't usually see, like the game used mask card I showed a few months ago. This John Buck is now, by far, my favorite mem card. What more could you ask for as a collector of catcher cards, the only thing missing is a piece of his cup, which I am glad is absent. The peice of shin guard is even all scuffed up. Kinda makes you wish more than one company made MLB cards to come up with new and different ideas.

Zistle Trade

Zac247s has the most trades on Zistle so it is kind of surprising it took this long to trade with him. In return for some Cardinals and Matt Holliday cards, he sent me a stack of cards, including Fleer and Score rookie cards of Tom Glavine. Despite a strong dislike for the Braves, I always liked Glavine and these cards are nice to add to the collection.

2013 Topps Series 2: Just the Catchers

Something I have been meaning to do for a while is to break down just the catcher cards from sets, it's something I do anyway, I am just taking the time to post it now. I am leaving out cards of catchers batting, so no Evan Gattis, just cards that might land in the catcher binder. Starting off with John Buck, Buck is the only catcher allowed to custom paint his mask. This card does a poor job of showing it, a major disappointment for me considering how awesome his 2011 Topps card was.
