2016 Black Friday COMC Rockies

Yes, that is how far behind I am, just starting to post by Black Friday shipment from COMC. This Tulo was at the top of my to-buy list completing the 2015 Prizm Tie-Dyed parallels Rockies team set.

Gyspy Queen Pick-ups with Some 1/1 Action

I'm getting really bad at not scanning and posting thing, so I am making a point of getting back to it, starting with a compilation of recent Gypsy Queen additions. I am pretty excited about the above card, a Charlie Blackmon 1/1 Framed Black from this years GQ. I got this for $11 plus shipping probably due to the auction being listed with an un-descriptive title. I think this is only my second "true" 1/1 as I don't really count printing plates.

First 2016 GQ Trade

My first set help from 2016 Gypsy Queen comes from Judson over at My Cardboard Habit, but the coolest part wasn't the set help, it was the Mini Foil. I don't get a chance for much retail, and I think these are retail only. The shiny foil look is something different for Gypsy Queen and is a nice change of pace.

Just Commons, The Rest and Some Thoughts

After showing off the catchers portion of my first JustCommons order, here is the rest. The Weiss above is by far the best looking card so it gets top spot. The one card I really wanted was in my cart, but I was informed after my order was processed that it was out of stock. I was refunded the amount for this card, and a few others they didn't have, but if I wish I had known that before my order was finalized. I found the cart system the used to be really lacking, leading me order cards they didn't have in stock and ordering 2 of a couple cards that I only needed one of.

Black Friday (The Rest, Finally)

I know these are pretty late, but a few cards I wanted to show off before putting away. I might have to stop trying to convince myself I don't like relic cards as my favorite pick-ups were a 30 year old sock card, a couple tie-dyes and this quad relic of Paul Lo Duca. As far as I can find this is the last of the 4 mask cards made that I needed to go along with the Johnny Estrada, Ivan Rodriguez and John Buck.

Black Friday Rockies

Plowing through my backlog here with some cards I needed to scan, so why to post them. First off Ryan McMahon, a Rockies third base prospect from the absolutely beautiful Bowman Inception Origins autographs. Nice thick card, silver ink auto, this ranks up there with any of the Bowman Black Collection cards I have. The best part might be the sweet spring training Mountain Logo hat.

Cleaning out the Scan folder again

I intended to clean up my office, but that quickly took a back seat to catching up on scanning and cleaning out the scan folder and to be scanned pile. These are all from a previous COMC order, and with a new one on the way it was way past time to post some of these and scan them in. Starting with some 2011 In The Game Canadiana of Terry Puhl, one of the very few Saskatchewan born MLB players. Nice to have an auto of his and a sweet red patch from the old Astros uni even if they are unlicensed.

Recent Rockies Additions

Another "clean out the scan folder" post loaded up with Rockies that I have picked up over the last who know how long. Starting with my favorite of the bunch, David Dahl. One thing Bowman Platinum did right is parallels. Not just different color borders, but changing the whole background, and the camo parallels are the nicest of the bunch. Topps is lacking big-time in this, while Panini is doing it fairly well in the Prizm line.

Random Rockies Pick-ups

Mini's! One of these is not like the other, franchise icons Troy Tulowitzki and Todd Helton with Juan Sosa in the middle, don't feel bad, I don't know who Juan Sosa is either.

Cardboard Collections Trade

As with most trades this time of year, Gypsy Queen set needs are coming in, today from Cardboard Collections. Always nice to get Mike Trout out of the way, he usually seems short printed, but this year he is card #1, and this completed page 1 in the set binder.

Just 5 More Packs: 2014 Gypsy Queen

In a weekend trip to the LCS for supplies, the call of wax was too strong, and seeing packs of 2014 Gypsy Queen in a hockey based store proved to be to tempting to pass up. Even though I have completed the base set I still picked up 5 packs. The first pack I opened had one of the 4 hits in the box, and autograph Jake Odorizzi, not a big card by any means, but it was still nice to pull a hit from a loose pack.

COMRockies

Time to show off some Rockies from the recent COMC package, which included some bigger cards from the mailbox system. First off, a nice on-card auto of Todd Helton from 1998, or the pre-goatee era. Only my second Helton autograph, a part of my collection that is severely lacking.

COMGQSP

Another COMC order arrived, meaning chipping away at my Gypsy Queen sets, starting off with 2011, a set I already finished but found the Rockies short prints for cheap so I added them for the team PC, I don't remember buying the Hanson, but I only paid 45 cents, pretty cheap for a short print.

I Got Wood!

I know, super cheesy post title that has been used plenty of times, but I felt the need to use it at least once. The occasion being getting my first mini wood card, a 2014 Gypsy Queen Jorge de la Rosa. I have wanted one of these for a while and finally found one that didn't break the budget. Upon receiving the card I was pretty happy with it, it does have a nice wood texture on the card front making a pretty unique card.

Custom Card: 2014 Gypsy Queen Don Zimmer

Just a small tribute to a man that spent over 60 years in the game of baseball. Don Zimmer was known for many things in his long career, and perhaps lost in that is that Zimmer was a member of the first coaching staff assembled by the expansion Colorado Rockies in 1993 and stayed with the team until 1995.

His accomplishments are far to many to list here, so I encourage everyone to spend some time to look back on the career of a true baseball legend.

Zistle Trade #23

A pretty large Zistle trade with around 30 cards coming my way. This is the third trade over at Zistle with Laurie V from LV's TTM blog. No surprise the trade centered around some 2014 Gypsy Queen short prints. These four put me needing 27 more, it always nice to check Mike Trout off the list along with a rookie of Billy Hamilton.

Another Buckstore Trade

Another trade with somewhat regular trading partner and fellow Canuck, Sportscards From The Dollar Store
First off, he completed my 2013-14 Upper Deck Series 1 set, including my first Torey Krug card,
then checked off all but one of my 2014 Flagship needs, just Jean Segura left to go,
finally finishing my 2014 Gypsy Queen base set, just the short prints left to go. Thanks for the great trade!

Trade From The Skybox

More 2014 Gypsy Queen SP help, this time from View from the Skybox, in exchange for a stack of minis. These 6 put me at 19 out of 50. Thanks for the trade!

A Wild PWE Appears

A rare PWE finds it way North of the border. It contained two 2014 Gypsy Queen short prints, one being the Canadian pitcher for the Mariners, James Paxton. The other being Torii Hunter, which for some reason was not in my scanned cards to be posted folder. So a quick thank you to Mr. Smith over at ARPSmith's Sportscard Obsession for helping me out.
