Canada WBC Customs

So, 0-3, not very good. Canada did really bad losing all three games by a combined score of 21-3. Not much else to say, but whatever, here are some customs in the style of the Freddie Freeman from a few days ago. George Kottaras, he's a catcher, so he gets a custom.

Why Freddie Freeman (and the WBC) is Awesome

I might be in the minority, but I really like the World Baseball Classic. The eligibility stuff is kind of weird, but it allows teams to be more competitive, and it allows things like Freddie Freeman, born in the States, to play for Canada to honour his Mother, which is awesome.

Zistle Trade #72

Everyone once in while I remember a set, or team set, that I really need to finish, 2009 O-Pee-Chee black border fit in that category. I am always a sucker for black borders and somehow the powder blue works well with the Rockies purple.

Small Sportlots Order

As always Sportlots is my source for had to find weird singles and parallels. How about a 1996 Stadium Club Silver parallel of Trenidad Hubbard for weird. My Trenidad Hubbard Rockies super collection is coming along fairly well.

Care Package from the Dollar Store

Cleaning up a stack of cards that have been screaming to be scanned, sorted, posted and added to the collection from Sportcards from the Dollar Store. Starting with my favorite, a sweet retro shot of Pete Peeters. I really like the early 1980s goalies on modern cards along with Tuukka Rask with slightly better gear and a Bruins 90th Anniversary patch.

At War with Sticker Autos

I am old, I like to complain, but this time, I think I have a reason to. Look at the card above, just bask in the glory of the 1987 wood border. Now notice the auto, or rather notice the sticker. Now try to not notice the sticker. You can't, once you see, it ruins the card. Gross, I was pumped for the 1987 style cards, and the base inserts are nice, the stickers ruin it. I know the whole set is not stickers, but the ones that are, are bad.

Another Small Zistle trade

The vultures may be circling, but there are still a few stubborn traders left, and I managed to find one. Highlight card is this Seth Smith 2009 OPC Black parallel. These just look so sharp, simple design, nice black borders and for some reason the light blue goes with the Rockies purple.

2016 Black Friday Redskins

My excitement in posting Redskins cards is not that high with their season over, but they honestly would not have won a playoff game anyway. Also disappointing is that the totally inept, completely confused and in WAY over his head Jay Gruden will be back despite not getting him team ready for big games, having zero clue in regards to clock management, questionable play calling, especially in the red-zone.

In my search for Fleer Brilliants parallel, I stumbled across the above Trent Green and pulled the trigger, I feel like even though I paid more than I would have like for a single card, I still got a good deal. Green had a very weird career, drafted by the Chargers in 1993, went to the CFL in 1994, signed with the Redskins in 1995 and served as the third stringer behind Gus Frerotte and Heath Shuler before getting to play in 1998, throwing for over 3000 yards and 23 touchdown, then signing a big deal with the Rams, who trade him to the Chiefs the next year, where he would made to Pro-Bowls.

First Major Acquisition of 2017

I thought I was falling behind in my hobbies for a while, at least now I have an reason. That reasons name is Polly and she was born on Jan 2nd this year. So if there is an extra long quiet period here, I am probably not dead, just changing poopy diapers.
