Check out the Rest (Jan-2022)

I am ridiculously far behind on posting stuff, but I refuse to let this little thing I do die, so here is the rest of the COMC package I received like 2 weeks ago. One of my top 5 pick-ups of 2021, Sandy Alomar, Jr. has been in a ton of these Topps Archives Buyback releases, but I finally spotted one that featured one of his few Rockies cards. I paid $20 for this serial number 3/4 and was very happy to do so.

Check out my Commanders???

The first COMC package of the year with some members of the franchise possibly to be know as the Commanders? Starting with a Boston Redskin, and the newest, oldest card in my collection, Pug Rentner from 1935 National Chicle. Pretty good score for $22 bucks, and a check of the "One of Every Redskin/WFT/???" project.

RLC Custom Card Project: Kit Pellow

The Rockies career of Kit Pellow was short, 70 games over two seasons, but he will forever be the answer to a couple trivia questions. Who was the Rockies opening day left fielder in 2004 (he went 0-4 with 2 strikeouts and was replaced in a double switch), and who broke up Tom Glavine's no-hitter with 2 outs in the 8th in May 2004. Kit did show some versatility at the bottom of the roster, playing 5 different positions, including catching, but his .240 average and a couple homers was not enough to keep him in the league as his 2004 season in Colorado was his last.

The card: A subtle tweak to 1993 Bowman, and the upcoming 2021 Bowman Heritage, not full bleed, but lots of room for the photo. The logo didn't really fit so we ended up with a very Donruss-y look instead.

Not-So Brief History of Modern Washington Kickers, Part I.

Kicking is weird. Kickers are weird. High stress, high leverage and low usage. Finding one that can consistently deal with everything involved is not easy, as a Redskins fan, this has been pretty evident since a guy named Chip was cut in 1995. If you don't believe me, try to follow along in my Not-So Brief History of Modern Redskins Kickers, Part I.

Brett Conway: 1998-2002, 41 Games
Replaced: Cary Blanchard, Eddie Murray

Replaced by: Michael Husted, James Tuthill

Brett Conway begins the fun and games, brought in for the last 6 games of 1998 as a kick-off specialist (that's right, we carried 2 kickers for 6 games) while Cary Blanchard did the rest of the kicking, earned the job as the sole kicker in 1999, but was then cut after 2 games in 2000 with an injury settlement. Conway would come back that season and kick for the Jets & Raiders, then would return to the Redskins for the entire 2001 season, but would get hurt again after 1 game in 2002

Football Frankenset - Nov 2021

Enough in the scan folder to post, so here we go

#60-  2020 Rookies & Stars - Allen Robinson

Best post one-shell rule throwbacks by far, great helmet, great jersey, great socks.

Check out My Everything Else

The non-football portion of the package, starting with a long sought after card, one of my favorite parallels of all time 1999 Finest Gold Refractors with a great photo of Mike Lansing. These are limited to 100 and don't pop up very often, this is the first Lansing I have seen in years.

Check Out My .. Football Team Cards?

I have mentioned my lack of interest in picking up new products and cards in general, this again shows up in my latest COMC order, which includes a few "COMC Mailbox" adds. Only 30 cards, but I wanted to highlight a few, so you get them all. Starting with the second to last 2018 Spectra Alex Smith I need for the rainbow. Only the die-cut Orange to go.

Football Frankenset - Oct 2021

It's football season and the Skins Football Team won so why not

150 -  2019 Prestige - Antonio Brown

A first ballot entry to the Zero Year Hall of Fame, and the third appearance for Antonio Brown although both others have been bumped.

Hey, I posted something. (Its a trade package)

Summer is a very busy time around here and looking back there were a lot of things I got that I never posted, mostly because I let them pile up to an unmanageable point, then put things away without scanning. So for everyone that sent something that I didn't post, it is always much appreciated and just due to my own negligence. That aside, here is a post. Starting with some sticker from Panini back in the day. I don't usually do stickers, but we have Marty Howe who never got a real Bruins card and a new Neely, so both were wanted.

5 from Sportlots

I don't peruse Sportlots very often, but once in a while, I find something I want to cross off my list bad enough and that is usually where I end up. Sportlots continues to be very good at what they are good at, weird hard to find cards at reason prices, and bad at what (I feel like anyway) they are very bad at. That being filling out a large order, this might be something easier for set collectors, but as a team collector, I struggle. The above Sandy Alomar didn't come with that problem as the shipping rates went from $2.00 for a single to $16 for 2-4. So for $2.75 I picked up a refactor of a Short Term Stop for the catcher binder.
