2019 Gypsy Queen Box Break (1 of 2)
Rockies, Redskins & Gypsy Queen. These have been the constants since 2012, although the last of three has been not as constant the last couple years. 2015 was hideously ugly and full of posed non-action photos. 2016 was a return to the classic style and well liked by me. 2017 was the big one. Out with minis, in with feathered photos and a weird, disjointed design. 2018 was an improvement, but with the bad taste 2017 left in my mouth, I didn't buy my yearly two boxes for the first time since I returned to collecting. This bring us to 2019, and as the photo above indicates, I jumped back on the bandwagon with 2 boxes.

April Showers Bring May Cards: 2017 Diamond Kings
Continuing on with my last post, along with the 2013 Update, I picked up two blasters of 2017 Diamond Kings, a product that I have liked the little bit I have seen, but have not opened a ton of. I really like this product, I like the feel of the cards, I like the look and other than the obvious Panini no-logo issue, these are great in my eyes. Starting with the old timers, it's a way bigger, more varied group than you see from Topps, interesting to learn a little about these guys like Harry Brecheen.

April Showers Bring May Cards: 2013 Update
A combination of some extra cash laying from a contract job and a sale at Blowout obviously equals buying cards. Nothing crazy exciting, but it's always nice to open some packs, get some new keepers and traders, and have something to show off here. Starting with probably the least exciting, a hanger pack of 2013 Update. I always like Update and the real draw here was the chance at pulling a Nolan Arenado rookie.

2017 Revolution 2 Box Results.
My Basketball itch continues to be scratched, after opening some Revolution from Black Friday, could not resist picking up this years offering. A fun product, a little over the top, maybe not as bad as Unparalleled football, on-card autos and a strong rookie class all sold me on this. Also finding a Canadian distro with good prices and shipping in http://www.cloutsnchara.com was also a win.

2017 Gypsy Queen Box Break 2
Forgive my laziness but I am not breaking down the second box as much as the first. Mostly because they are so similar. A couple differences, box 2 contained 2 base doubles, and switch a Black & White parallel for a green back, that's about it. My box topper is Zack Greinke, despite the potential storage issues, these are very nice looking cards.

1996 Sp Box Break Summary
I have to say, this was a pretty outstanding box. Out of my 30 packs I hit the above Cal Ripken (1:45 packs) a die cut Special FX (1:75 packs) and a die cut Marquee Matchups (1:61). There no way I am doing the math to figure the odds of getting all three in a single box. As far as the set build, I got 167 out of 188 with 57 doubles (including a couple triples). Collation was weird as I got a ton of White Sox, Red Sox and almost no A's, Rockies and Marlins.

Retro Box Break Preview - 1996 SP
I hadn't ripped much wax in a while, and after being scared of by the high cost of 2016 Upper Deck CFL and having a good paypal balance after selling of a few old PS2 games, I decided on a box of 1996 Upper Deck SP. One of my favorite design of the 90's, or really ever, I guess I am a sucker for wood grain. I started with 5 packs and stopped to make a post, might as well spread it out as my posts have been few and far between, and have a cold Banquet while I do it.

2016 Gypsy Queen Box One
Base Cards 183 of 300 - No doubles, 61% of the base set. I wasn't sure about the design at first, but now that I have them in hand, I really like this years design. Simple and the red text really pops against the light background, a huge improvement over 2015. I won't flood you with base, but a few stood out.

Opening some Opening Day on Opening Day
I never planned on buying any Opening Day, but a trip to the LCS for supplies always leads to a few packs, this time it lead to a box. Seeing as a box of Opening Day goes for under $40, it really wasn't that much more than my usual few sample packs. I am glad I did buy this box because my Dad was around over the weekend and we opened it while watching the Sunday games. Pretty cool to open a box with the man that got me started collecting.
So here's what we pulled.
