Hey, I'm Still here.. And I bought some stuff

Contrary to the lack of action here, I do still collect cards (and not just post digital customs). I haven't opened any wax in a loong time, but here are a few pick-ups worth posting. Starting with a card I didn't know existed until recently, Wade Redden played in over 1,000 career NHL games, his final 6 being with the Bruins, along with 5 playoff games. Panini must have had some extra cloth to use up, so here is his only card with Boston. Being 10 years old and limited to 25, I never expected to find one, but when one popped up with an $8.00 BIN, I couldn't click fast enough. So here it is, from Sweden of all places, now in my Bruins PC.

The non-football portion of the package, starting with a long sought after card, one of my favorite parallels of all time 1999 Finest Gold Refractors with a great photo of Mike Lansing. These are limited to 100 and don't pop up very often, this is the first Lansing I have seen in years.

Summer is a very busy time around here and looking back there were a lot of things I got that I never posted, mostly because I let them pile up to an unmanageable point, then put things away without scanning. So for everyone that sent something that I didn't post, it is always much appreciated and just due to my own negligence. That aside, here is a post. Starting with some sticker from Panini back in the day. I don't usually do stickers, but we have Marty Howe who never got a real Bruins card and a new Neely, so both were wanted.

BaseballCardStore - The Return.......

 The first order from BaseballCardStore.ca was so good, I went back for more. 

Starting with something a little different, Kipper for the Sharks goalie collection and Craig Billington sporting one of my favorite mask designs in recent memory.

Sept 2020 Trade Roundup

Clearing a couple trade out of the scan folders, starting with Steve Kline and either the batboy or a very small middle infielder, just a weird card from the old want-list and bonus points for an Expos appearance.

The second part of the first COMC package of the year, you wouldn't think it would take almost 30 years to complete a 6 card set, but here we are, in 2020, finally finishing off the 1991 Score Bobby Orr insert set. Also coming along was this weird Upper Deck insert of a young Saint Robert wearing number 30 for some reason.

BaseballCardStore - Hockey Pick-ups

Part 2 of the baseballcardstore.ca order, of course a Canadian site would have hockey cards. Some things they not have less of and I have more of, shiny Bruins goalies! A Select Tuukka, a very shiny Lord Byron and a Gold Medallion of the Lach Ness Monster. 

Merging Maildays

Two smaller recent packages one from an online store and on from a trade, starting with the above 1994 Collector's Choice Gold parallel, one of the harder Brad Edwards cards to find. This is actually the second one I have bought, but the first either got lost in the mail or I got ripped off.

Trading with Canadians 2020.2

A tcdb trade from before things got weird, highlight by, yes, a 1990 Pro Set card. For all the Pro Set I opened and traded for, I never have a Ray Bourque "corrected" variation, until now. A much as this set epitomizes "junk wax", it has really grown on me over the years, including all the little errors and quirks in the set.

Trading with Canadians 2020

  The Rockies collection has been largely ignored in favor of the Football Frankenset and the start of the One of Every Bruins project, but this trade scratches the baseball itch before 2020 gets in full swing. Starting with a oddly yellow tinted Vinny Castilla, which is something that I have been on other acetate cards but not very often, along with the Big Cat in a warm-up jacket and a zero-year Rudy Seanez from a non-Topps OPC design.

Picking up Singles

A couple singles from everyone's favorite auction site starting with a very weird pick-up, 2004 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection has 84 cards in the set, and one of them is a goalie who played in 14 career games 30 years previous. Dave Reece did record two shutouts in those games, but he is most famous for his last NHL game in which he gave up 11 goals including 10 points to Darryl Sittler. So 3 nearly 3 decades later, Dave Reece gets his rookie card.

COMC Nov 2019

Another glorious COMC mailday with a good amount of mailbox submissions. My new obsession, Panini Super Bowl Signatures. Starting in 2015 these were inserted in products, often unannounced, and continuing into 2019, all sharing the same design and all on-card. The Mark Rypien is new for 2019 and one of my favorite cards of the year, Mike Alstott was probably my favorite non-Redskin going back to his Purdue days, so picking on an on-card of a Hall of Fame fullback is a nice add. The Charles Mann is from 2015 and knocks my Washington needs down to two.

TCDB Trade #62

Another trade, more hockey heavy content. A new Cam Neely bringing me to 220 which tops the TCDB leaderboard, and a Byron Dafoe with a beauty of a mask card.

Cleaning out the Hockey Heavy Scan Folder

A combination of trades and parts of a few Sportlots orders that got scanned and never posted, until now. Starting off with a couple Bruins goalies, Jeff Hackett still in his Montreal gear, then with Bruins stuff and Peter Skudra on his only Bruins card.

Remember Ray Bourque? He's back... in pog form!

Cleaning out the scan folder and combining a few trades. Why was a Ray Bourque pog on my wantlist? The answer being at some point I picked up Bruins pogs from the 1994-95 set, but was missing 4 from the team set, now I only need 3.

The last of my COMC package, with somewhat of a big pickup, my first Superfractor, no idea who Shawn Bowman is, but he played for team Canada and it only cost me $16.25 so there you go.

Hide Your Cat For This Trade

I'm going to bury the lead a little here and start with a couple Rockies, a super shiny Saberhagen and a Zero-Year Rudy Seanez who would pitch in 544 MLB games, but none with Colorado.

A Rare Blogger Trade

A rare fellow blogger trade, with a little help from TCDB, with $30 a week habit. Starting off with some more Bruins from my recent run on hockey. A faux-throwback Brandon Carlo rookie and an actual throwback from 2001 Topps. I still find it super weird Jason Allison was the Bruins leading scorer for a few years.

Sportlots

A quick little Sportlots mail-day that is severely lacking a witty title. As with most Sportlots orders there was one card I really wanted, then the rest just filled it out to make shipping worthwhile. The main card was the above Tim Cheveldae, a good Saskatchewan boy and former Saskatoon Blade, I didn't remember him being with the Bruins, probably because he only played two games for them. I know nothing about this release other than it has a playing card back and I assume it's the hockey version of the Showdown MLB and NFL releases.
