Comc Order: The Rest

 

Most of the rest of the COMC order, I managed to squeeze one more upcoming post out of the this, starting with the last two standard Redskins cards I needed of Brad Edwards, just a McDonalds Gameday, Police issue and a couple parallels from 1997 Pacific with the Falcons. These two were not the hardest to find, just happened to be the last two to find there way here.

My first COMC package of 2020, almost a years worth of cards, which turned out to be a relatively small amount. Starting with 2 more 2018 Spectra Alex Smith cards giving me 7 out of 12 in hand, with a couple more on the way.

Merging Maildays

Two smaller recent packages one from an online store and on from a trade, starting with the above 1994 Collector's Choice Gold parallel, one of the harder Brad Edwards cards to find. This is actually the second one I have bought, but the first either got lost in the mail or I got ripped off.

15 from 4 w/ Frankenset Goodness

15 Cards from 4 Sportlots packages starting with 3 for the "One of Every Bruins" project that is not a high priority but seems to be growing, tough guy Colton Orr, short term stop Sergei Gonchar in a Winnie the Pooh uni and Alexei Zhamnov with a short term stop / sunset card.

Last Package of 2018 (TCDB Trade #34)

This trade snuck in on the 31st marking the last package of 2018. Some Gems and some awfulness. The awfulness is the above 1999 Skybox Thunder. The front looks like regular over-production era cardboard, but the backs what this set is about.

Sportlots Box Canadian Review Part 3 (Plus the actual Cards!)

The cards are here, no extra weird customs fees so the last post on total cost still stands. I really wish I would have done a video post of the opening, but I was too eager to get into the package. It came in a regular bubble envelope, and inside was what you see below.

Nine packages from the original sellers, some in posted PWEs and some in plain PWEs with no postage, probably from a bigger order sent into Sportlots. Everything was packed well with no damage, so this seems to work, and probably allows for cheaper processing as is it now stored by card (like the COMC model), but by package. That pretty much wraps that up, on to the good stuff.

Weird TCDB Trade

I mentioned in my Sportlots posts that my last two trade packages from the States never showed up. Well, after over a month, one of them actually arrived, and looking at the postage date, it wasn't the post office, it was the trader either forgot to mail it out, or waited until he got his package to mail mine out. Either way I am happy it finally arrived as it checks a lot of boxes off the want list.

COMC Everything Else.

Buried in my scan folder was the rest of my recent COMC order, starting with a 1950 Bowman Dick Fowler, the first Canadian to pitch a no-hitter and pretty much forgotten until James Paxton threw his.

Redskins Heavy Trade

Baseball is in full swing, but I always love adding new Redskins and crossing names off the One of Every Redskins lists. Mr. Armentrout (great name) from The Collective Mind blog and I swapped some Redskins, starting with two vintage Skins from 1964 Philadelphia, you will probably never see Kicker-Guard listed as a position on a modern card.

1st COMC of 2018: Football

My first COMC package of 2018 comes very early in the year, I had some stuff from the mailbox system I wanted in-hand so I pulled the trigger and got them shipped. The above Theismann being one of them. A beautiful on-card black ink signed auto with a nice looking die-cut. I was pretty happy to get this for around $10.00.

4 (Plus 1) More from Sportlots

I have a love-hate relationship with Sportlots. I love the shear amount of random, cheap singles, but I hate searching for cards, trying to fill an order from the same seller after finding one that doesn't charge $99.99 for shipping to Canada. My search began looking for Redskins cards, but ending up with none. The big one was the above 2015 Gypsy Queen Madison Bumgarner. The short prints I need are all way overpriced on COMC, so I am starting to look elsewhere to complete the set, check card 350 off the list.

Small Sportlots Order

As always Sportlots is my source for had to find weird singles and parallels. How about a 1996 Stadium Club Silver parallel of Trenidad Hubbard for weird. My Trenidad Hubbard Rockies super collection is coming along fairly well.

Zistle Trade #62

A really cool zistle trade starting with a really cool Darren Daulton Slideshow insert from 1994 Leaf. Not really an acetate card, but the picture is like a piece of film, hence Slideshow, making for something different and a really interesting card to have in-hand.

Zistle Trade #31

In honor of the Redskins beating Dallas this past weekend we will start with a couple Redskins from a recent Zistle trade. Brad Edwards was a favorite defensive player from my early years, so I will always add any cards of his I can. A couple receivers from the current team, I really love when team colors are prominently displayed and 2014 Prestige does this well.

Sportlots Mailday 11/20/2012

Another mailday from sportlots.com, more of the standard package for me. Six Rockies cards I needed bringing the "One of every Rockies" collection up to 92% complete with some harder to find 2002 Upper Deck 40-man. 13 cards from 1992 Pinnacle series 1 bringing me to withing 15 cards of the set. This seller only had three 2011 Gypsy Queens I needed so I snatched those up along with the two Redskins safeties I collect in Brad Edwards and Sean Taylor. We don't get many card shows around these parts so Sportlots is kind of like going through a dime box for me and it never fails to add something to my collection that I have been searching for.
